This Privacy Policy explains how relai (“relai,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use relai and our related services (the “Service”), available at relai.team.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.
Who We Are
relai is a visual feedback and task-handoff tool for software teams. It lets users place visual pins on live web pages to capture context, such as screenshots, page elements, and URLs, and hand that context to team members and AI coding agents.

Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in through a third-party provider (such as Google or GitHub), the basic profile information that provider shares with us, such as your name and email address. We use this only to create and manage your account.
Workspace and content data. When you use the Service, we store the content you create, including workspace names, site configurations, pins, comments, labels, task metadata, and the screenshots, page elements, URLs, and notes captured when you create a pin. This content may include information about the web pages you choose to annotate.
Usage and technical data. We collect basic technical information necessary to operate the Service, such as log data, timestamps, and information about actions taken within the Service (for example, when a pin is created or resolved).
Cookies and sessions. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not use advertising cookies.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- Create and authenticate your account and keep you signed in;
- Store and display the pins, comments, and other content you and your team create;
- Enable collaboration features, including notifications and workspace membership;
- Enable integrations you choose to connect, such as AI coding agents, issue trackers, and messaging tools;
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Service; and
- Respond to your requests and provide support.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Within your workspace. Content you create is visible to other members of your workspace, consistent with their roles and permissions.
Integrations you enable. If you connect a third-party integration (such as an AI coding agent via MCP, an Asana account, or a Slack workspace), we share the relevant content with that service to perform the action you requested. Your use of those third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Service providers. We use trusted third-party providers to host and operate the Service, including our database and authentication provider and our email delivery provider. These providers process data only on our behalf and under confidentiality obligations.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
The relai Browser Extension
If you install our browser extension, it connects to your existing relai account with a revocable per-browser credential; you can disconnect any browser at any time under Account → Connected browsers. The extension transmits data to relai only when you file a pin: the screenshot you captured, the selected element’s context, the page URL and title, and recent console errors from that page. It works only on websites your workspace has registered, and only for signed-in workspace members.
The extension does not track your browsing, does not collect data from other websites, and does not use analytics or advertising SDKs. Content captured with the extension is stored, shared, and retained exactly like pins captured with the embedded widget, as described in the sections above. Data collected by the extension is never sold and is not used for any purpose unrelated to providing the Service.
Third-Party Authentication
If you sign in using Google or GitHub, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) to create and identify your account. We request only the information needed to authenticate you. We do not access your emails, files, or other data from those accounts. Google’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data Retention
We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete content or close your account, we delete the associated data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal or security reasons.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including access controls, encryption in transit, and workspace-level data isolation. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete it, or to request a copy. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@relai.team. You may also delete content directly within the Service or request account deletion.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Users
We operate the Service from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
